It took three days of camping in very crisp temperatures to gain the inspiration for this painting. My wife and I found three days in late October to enjoy our last few camping days in a beautiful Pennsylvania state partk. Half of the park was closed allowing for strolls on totally leaf covered roads and isolated campsites...my kind of camping, without all the people, not that I don't like people, it's just more relaxing and a lot easier to get ideas for a painting.
Colors of fall have to be handled very carefully or they will easily look "overdone" and especially when painting a scene where the foliage is at peak because nature itself looks almost too good to be true. This painting was the result of those last few days in October.
