This field is located on Deer Isle, Maine just north of the small fishing village of Stonington. I almost passed on this painting because the clean early morning light, coupled with the tire tracks running off into the distance, almost looked staged. In the end, however, it got to me and I had to paint it. This painting was completed in my studio, back in Pittsburgh, during the dead of winter. It's refreshing to work on a painting like this when there is snow outside.
